Devilscast, unlike many Metropolitan Area media outlets, recognizes New Jersey as its own entity with its own hockey team. When New York and Philly don't pay any attention to your team, we do. This is the place to get (and give) commentary on the three-time Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils, from Albelein to Zubrus. You're never more than a couple of clicks away from getting the latest on Marty, Lou, The Rock and all things related to Devils hockey, past and present.
Devilscast brings you a new podcast twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays throughout the hockey season. You can take our mp3-quality shows along on your iPod or other portable audio device and enjoy them on the train to Newark. Or, you can simply listen on your home computer before kicking back to watch the game.
The number for our call-in line is (347) 410-9093, and our e-mail address is info@devilscast.com. Drop us a line and leave your name and location if you'd like your comments to be heard or read on Devilscast.com.
Brian is similiar to Greg in many ways. Born and raised in Jersey, loves Jersey for what it is, covered local NJ sports and has worked in radio and the media in many facets. However, Brian was raised a die-hard Rangers fan. More importantly though, he has a passion for the NHL and hockey as a sport.
Playing hockey his entire life until a shoulder injury forced him to stop playing, Brian wanted to continue to be involved with the sport he grew up on. So he turned to sportscasting.
His first experience at a hockey game was way back in 1989, for a battle at the Meadowlands between the Devils and Kings. Seeing Wayne Gretzky at his first ever hockey game is something he will never forget. After a few more hockey games, his passion for the New York Rangers become evident when he insisted on a Darren Turcotte jersey for Christmas one year.
Although he is a huge fan of the NY Mets, the Rangers and the NHL far surpass any love for any team or sport. He will now turn his attention and focus on the play of the NJ Devils. With a lot of exciting things in store for Devils fans in the future (from Zach Parise's emergence as a star to the Rock becoming a top tier NHL arena), Brian looks forward to discussing and arguing the good and the bad the Devils bring to the table.
Once dubbed "Mr. New Jersey" by a radio co-worker, Greg loves nearly all things pertaining to the Garden State, including his current hometown of Midland Park and, of course, Devils hockey. Although he has not played any form of the game since his intramural gym-hockey days in high school, he had classes in college with several members of Boston College's 2001 NCAA Division I Championship team.
Born in Ridgewood, NJ, but taken from his beloved native state at age 7 and moved into Whalers Country for eight years, Greg carries the secret shame that the first NHL game he attended was Pittsburgh at Hartford in 1991. However, he clearly remembers moving back to Jersey at the end of his freshman year of high school just after the Devils lost Game 7 of the 1994 Eastern Conference finals. After that game, his father said, "The Rangers haven't won the Stanley Cup in 54 years, don't you want to see them win it?"
One year later, Greg made his father take him to The Meadowlands for the Devils' 1995 Stanley Cup Championship parade.
Now well-versed in working for the media, Greg has reported on high school, college and pro sports for various newspapers and broadcast outlets in the Tri-State Area since graduating from BC. Although few things can outrank his undying and relatively insane devotion to New York Jets football, he lives for putting Rangers, Flyers and Icelanders [sic] supporters in their place and standing up for fans of your New Jersey Devils.
